The 1.83 million acre Rio Grande National Forest remains one of the true undiscovered jewels of Colorado. Located near Creede is the Wheeler Geologic Area. Within this area you will find many trails, some nearby peaks over 13,000 ft and amazing views. A great photo opportuity is at North Clear Creek Falls Observation Site. This Overlook facility is situated as a stop on the Silverthread Scenic Byway along State Hiway 149.
