This commitment to quality ingredients is how we provide authentic, country style cooking that is rooted in real, homestyle recipes.  It’s also how we keep our menu fresh and exciting with new seasonal dishes and continue to offer the best value to our guests.

The bottom line is, at Cracker Barrel we do our best to source high quality ingredients for our recipes because our guests deserve it.

And we’ve been doing that since we opened our doors in 1969.

We like homegrown.
Homegrown tastes better. With our Tennessee roots, and more than 600 stores in 43 states, sourcing ingredients domestically is core to our beliefs. By far and away, the vast majority of our ingredients come from right here in America. Our green beans, potatoes, farm raised catfish, sweet potatoes, turnip greens, and all of our beef, pork and poultry are domestically grown or raised. We serve only 100% American apples, wild blueberries that are picked in Maine, juice squeezed from Florida Valencia oranges, spring raised trout from Idaho and baby carrots that are farmed in California.

At Cracker Barrel, we are committed to staying on top of the latest standards in animal welfare. We encourage our product suppliers to lead the way in researching and adopting the absolute best animal welfare practices in the raising, handling and transportation of animals.

Cracker Barrel is continually working with our product suppliers to improve the quality of the food we serve and the products we sell. Importantly, collaboration and membership with organizations like the Coalition for Sustainable Egg Supply help us to stay current with industry best practices, and inform our decisions for the future of our company. In February of 2016 we established the goal of transitioning 100% of our egg supply to cage – free over the next 10 years. Cracker Barrel has made this commitment to remain consistent with consumer preferences, advancing industry practices and supply availability.

  • Cracker Barrel requires our suppliers comply with all laws put forth by all federal and local regulatory agencies.
  • Our internal compliance processes verify that our suppliers have established proper animal handling procedures to ensure that animal-friendly policies are followed.
  • Cracker Barrel requires our suppliers to exercise humane treatment standards in the preparation of poultry, pork, and beef.
  • Cracker Barrel encourages and gives preference to suppliers that meet or exceed animal welfare standards set forth by:

  • National Chicken Council
  • National Pork Producers Council
  • National Cattlemen’s Beef Association

We put quality first.
At Cracker Barrel, every recipe begins with premium ingredients, like USDA Choice steaks, and fresh Grade A eggs. Our syrup is 100% natural, free from artificial colors and flavors and individually bottled in Vermont.  We serve Westminster crackers from a 100-year-old recipe. Our wild caught seafood is sourced from MSC certified 100% sustainable fisheries. We use chicken and turkey raised without human grade medically important antibiotics, and the same will be true for all of our beef and pork by January 2017.

Homemade is delicious.
We believe homemade is a special ingredient. That’s why we hand roll our biscuits and make our mashed potatoes and gravy from scratch throughout the day in our restaurants. Our eighteen hour slow roasted beef, the hand-rolled dumplins in our Chicken n’ Dumplins and our hand dipped, hand breaded Homestyle Chicken are all examples of how we try to remain true to our heritage of authentic country style cooking.
