Our Story

Maggiano’s Little Italy opened the doors of its first location on the corners of Clark Street and Grand Avenue in Chicago, Illinois November 11, 1991. What happened next, as they say, is history.

The restaurant was successful from the very beginning, with eager diners sometimes waiting hours for an opportunity to dine family-style. The portions of Italian–American cuisine were large, reminiscent of a Sunday night visit to their grandmother’s house, or as they say in Italy, nonna’s casa! The recipes were simple, authentic classics, many of them coaxed out of Italian grandmothers, mothers, and aunts whose ideas of a recipe were a pinch of this and a sprinkle of that. With some trial and error, the chefs celebrated the birth of many of Maggiano’s signature dishes.

With a successful opening at the Clark and Grand location, a second restaurant was opened in Oak Brook, Illinois and two years later in Skokie, Illinois. The decision to open a restaurant outside of Illinois was made, and in 1994 Maggiano’s Little Italy opened in McLean, Virginia at Tyson’s Corner Galleria II. As Tyson’s Corner took off, it became obvious that Maggiano’s had great potential to succeed nationally. With that in mind, Brinker International purchased Maggiano’s Little Italy from Rich Melman of Lettuce Entertain you in 1995. Since then, Brinker has grown Maggiano’s from four locations in Illinois to numerous locations across the country.

Our Culture

Maggiano’s has one main goal—to make people feel special.

Whether celebrating a special occasion or gathering the family for an informal dinner, Maggiano’s strives to make every Guest feel comfortable enough to laugh out loud, reminisce, and be indulged. With that in mind, we know that to make our Guests feel special, our teammates have to feel special.

Whether working in a restaurant or a member of the Restaurant Support Team, every Teammate is valued and an important part of the success at Maggiano’s. We operate by making sure each Teammate feels a sense of belonging and ownership of Maggiano’s successes by taking the time to get to know you, celebrating personal achievements, and reaching out to you in times of personal need. Just as every Guest is part of our family at Maggiano’s, so are our Teammates. We have an attitude of “we over me” and have fun each day making each other, and our Guests, feel special.

Executive Chef

Anthony was born in Chicago, IL, and possesses quite a diverse background, with a degree in Philosophy and Psychology from Triton College. He began his career with us at the Schaumburg, IL location in 1999, and since then has helped Maggiano's open multiple new locations including Houston in 2000 and Las Vegas in 2004. Chef Anthony also served at 14 different restaurants before that! His favorite Maggiano’s menu item is the Lighter Take Chicken Parmesan, but when he’s not enjoying food in his kitchen, he loves cooking a clean meal or occasionally enjoying a hamburger from Chili’s. In his free time, you can find him riding a motorcycle, hiking, camping, or at home with his pastry chef wife and two sons.
