Lawrence University is a residential liberal arts college and conservatory of music. The main campus, situated on 84 acres, contains 60 instructional, residential, recreational and administrative facilities.

Main Hall was built in 1853-1854 and is the oldest building on campus. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. This rich history adds to the character of the facility. The deep armchairs in Strange Lounge are perfect for a cozy study session while the thick walls keep out the Wisconsin winter. Home to the humanities, Main Hall houses the Hiram A. Jones Latin Library as well as a language laboratory.
