1 Review for Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

1 Review

We visit Perkins regularly at least once or twice a month, sometimes more frequently. Our recent visit on Wednesday may be our last, at least for a long time. Until Wednesday, we have been mostly well satisfied with our meals. Some time ago, my meat was tough. When the manager, who was manning the cash register asked how our meal was, I replied that the meat was tough, but my wife’s meal was just right. The manager apologized and deducted my meal from the bill. Wednesday was another story. My wife ordered chicken pot pie with a salad. The wait for our meals was much longer than usual and when it came and my wife proceeded with her meal, she discovered that her pot pie was barely lukewarm, but the kicker was her observation that there was hardly anything in the pie, little chicken and little anything else. The waitress came by a few minutes later asking if everything was all right. My meal was fine, but not my wife’s. She gladly picked up her plate and said she would hopefully return with a different pie that was hot. She did return with a hotter pie, but the same old pie with the explanation that this was the last pie in the kitchen. So disappointing. At the conclusion, when I approached the cash register to pay for our “meals” the gentleman (I assume the manager), as usual, asked how our meals were. My wife responded in a normal tone of voice that the pot pie was not good (she couldn’t eat it). He said nothing and collected our cash payment. We left with a sense of remorse that we had chosen Perkins on this occasion and with little desire to return even though it is close to home. The “solid reputation for high quality personalized dining”, for us, suddenly became a myth.
