How do I obtain a park entrance pass?

Only 118 of your 417 park sites charge entrance fees. You can obtain park entrance passes by visiting a park site that charges an entrance fee. Entrance fee sites have passes available; we recommend calling a park prior to your visit. (See the park search to locate a specific park.) There are a number of entrance passes available, including park-specific passes as well as passes that offer entrance to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites in addition to the national parks (Annual, Military, Senior, 4th Grade, Access, and Volunteer passes). Park Hours

The park is open from Dawn until Dusk. Free skate rentals will be available between Memorial Day until August 22nd for the following hours: Weekdays: 11:00 a.m. – 5:45 p.m. Weekends: 11:00 a.m. – 6:45 p.m. Skate rentals will continue on weekends from August 22nd until the Labor Day. The Skating Pavilion will close for the 2016 season after Monday, September 5th.

Directions

Anacostia Park is located in South East Washington DC running parallel to the Anacostia river. The park can be accessed from the South Capitol bridge over the Anacostia river across from the Nationals baseball stadium. You could also enter from Pennsylvania avenue over the Anacostia river as well.

Weather

Spring brings mild temperatures and a light breeze along with springtime flower blooms. Summer can be hot and humid. Fall cools down and changing of the seasons brings changing of the colors in leaves. Winter gets cold and temperatures may drop below freezing.
