If I could give a negative review based on the quality of service given by the pharmacist who “works” at the Walgreens Pharmacy located at 805 Pamplico Highway suite B Florence, SC 29505 I would give her a negative 100 on a scale of 0-10 with 0 being the worst service and 10 being the best. I have been waiting for an antibiotic for over 24 hours to treat a severe cellulitis infection on my foot (which is getting worse by the hour the swelling has increased since the visit to the doctor, I’ve developed a fever, nausea, diarrhea and the redness has gone from a bright cherry red to a scarlet purple red and it is spreading to the entire foot vs. the localized area- yeah, sepsis is right around the corner….). My husband went to get the script last night at our usual Walgreens on Cherokee/Irby Street but it was out of stock and was told that it was on order. This morning he went to pick it up and it was still unavailable, but the Pharm-D was kind enough to call around to stud another store had any in stock. She repeatedly came back to update him on the situation. She finally told him that the store on Pamplico Highway had the antibiotic in stock. When he arrived at that Walgreens store, the Pharm -D was hardly overjoyed to see him or even to help him. He was there at 12:15 and was promptly informed that the prescription would be ready at 3pm because she was “waiting for it to be delivered”. When he explained to her that he had just come from another Walgreens and had been assured by that Pharmacist that the prescription should be ready shortly, she told him “we have to process the information and then it will be ready at 3pm”. So having no choice, my husband returned home. The pharmacy has a lunch break from 1-2pm. I’m Hoping that when he returns home that he will have the prescription in hand as I don’t relish the thought of going to the hospital because a pharmacist who is working for a company that is supposedly working on so many initiatives to deliver excellent customer service and so many initiatives for impoverished communities couldn’t find the time or even the courtesy to fill a simple prescription that has been waiting for over 24 hours to be filled. Also, as an RN I know that when someone is on an antibiotic, they should be getting it at the same time each day (it makes it work better) I also know the importance of taking the first dose as soon as possible. I would think that pharmacist would have the basic knowledge as well to help a patient get their first dose of N antibiotic as soon as possible. I guess that is not one of those things that is covered under the Walgreens guidelines or something like that….
