When DG first opened in this area, there was a lot of excitement among the community. The convenience of not having to drive all the way to Walmart was appreciated by many. The initial impression of the employees was positive, as they were friendly and helpful. However, over the years, a small number of employees have become consistently miserable. They do not even make an effort to appear happy or courteous towards customers. This may be attributed to DG’s cost-cutting measures, resulting in a shortage of staff and increased workload for each employee during a shift. It seems like some managers work so there so many hours and days over week, they may as well keep a cot in the office. These long hours and workload most definitely contribute to their fatigue and grumpiness. On some occasions, I have encountered situations where there were no employees present at the registers. It is surprising that DG has not taken measures to prevent this, as it poses a risk of theft. This issue was also observed at another DG store I visited recently. While I understand the presence of self-checkouts, it is important for DG to ensure that there are always employees available to assist customers. It is evident that the lack of staff at DG has resulted in customers struggling to ring up their own orders, which does not reflect well on the corporation. This raises concerns about whether DG prioritizes profit over the well-being of their employees and customers. Maybe heading over to Walmart isn’t that big of a deal after all…
